Tecno Pop 2S Review: 4G Network, Android 9.0 and More

The currently trending Tecno Pop 2 smartphone have just been upgraded to a new model duped Pop 2S. The Tecno Pop 2s comes with updated specifications and refreshed design and built quality.

The most notable of them all is the choice of Tecno to use the quad-core Mediatek MT6761 Helio A22 CPU clocked at 2.0 GHz. And by the use of the above CPU, it means the Tecno Pop 2S have full support for 4G LTE network, which was absent in the standard Pop 2 mobile phone. Adding to the CPU is PowerVR GE8320 GPU, 1GB of RAM and a 16GB expandable storage up to 128GB via microSD card

The device also got screen upgrade. Although Tecno is still maintaining the same 5.5-inch screen, but the new comer comes with a 720 x 1440 pixels resolution which should produce better and crisper display than it predecessor.

Design wise, the device still has similar form-factor like the predecessor, however, the rear camera and the Tecno logo has taken a vertical placement, which goes more inline with recent designs seen on most Tecno phones, including the recent Tecno Spark 3 and the Spark 3 Pro.

The Camera department of the Pop 2s also got upgraded as well. Instead of the older combination of 8 MP and 5 MP sensors at the back and front of the Pop 2, the new Pop 2s comes with a 13 MP sensor at the back, and an 8 MP sensor upfront with LED flash on both sides.

As you would expect, the device comes with full AI features such as face beautification and FaceID, thanks to the presence of Android 9.0 Pie (Go Edition) which powers the device out of the box. The higher variant Tecno Pop 2S Pro, even comes with dual camera modules at the back for better AI experience.

Finally, the device comes with dual SIM cards with support for the aforementioned 4G LTE network support, a rear placed fingerprint scanner and a 3050mAh battery juice. The device is available in Gold, Gray, and Blue colors, and should be priced under USD $99 when it becomes available in stock.
