We now know that Xiaomi will be unveiling the Redmi K40-series on the 25th of this month, thanks to an official announcement via a social media post yesterday. Sadly all renders and design of these upcoming device has been cardboard designs, mostly based on unofficial sources. Luckily today, the Redmi K40 have now passed through MIIT certification, showing what the device will eventually look like.
As per images shared by Digital Chat Station via Weibo, the design of the Redmi K40-series might look even more appealing than all we’ve seen so far. From the rear, the device will have similar camera modules seen on the Mi 11, except that the modules is rotated vertically, and now looks a little elongated than the M11.
From the images, the primary sensor looks substantially wide. In a previous rumors, the K40 was said to come with a large 1/1.53″ sensor for better lowlight images. For comparison sake the current Mi 11 and Mi 10 of last year has 1/1.33″ sensor size, while the older Redmi K30 and the current Poco X3 NFC has 1/1.72″ and 1/1.72″ sensor sizes respectively.
So the upcoming Redmi K40-series might not have the lowlight capability of the Mi 11, but it should be notably better than the previous K30. Moreover, the sensor will be a 108-megapixel lens instead of the 64-megapixel lens used in the older model.
As for the frontal view, nothing much is revealed, except the obvious tiny dot-notch on the front. This cut-out has been rumored as one of the tiniest dot-notch in a smartphone display (time shall tell), and the display itself is believed to come from Samsung E4-series, same panel on the Mi 11. The company officials has even claimed that it will be the most expensive display on a Redmi phone till date.
Again, time shall tell. The countdown to the launch date is already on, and we have exactly 15 more days to go. But we do hope to come across more news before then, so stay tuned.
