Cat launches a new rugged phone dubbed Cat S52, this device is pretty and it doesn’t actually look like a rugge phone at first glance. It still spot an IP68 water and dust resistance and MIL-STD 810G standards, it’s thin, at 9.69mm and has an exposed aluminum frame as well as a clean TPU backplate.

The screen is protected by a powerful Gorilla Glass 6, the rear of the device is made of non-slip TPU interrupted only by a single camera cutout. It’s a 12MP f/1.8 Sony-made unit with 1.4µm pixel camera and for selfies, you get an 8mp camera.

The phone has been teased for it’s MIL-STD 810G support which means it can survive thermal shocks, high and low pressure extremes, salt mist conditions and drop tests onto steel (30 drops from 1.5 meters).

Under the hood, it is powered by MediaTek Helio P35 paired with a 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. You can expand the storage with a Microsoft card. It also runs on Android 9 pie. CAT S52 will launch in Europe from November 12, priced at €499/£449 and it will be available from CAT’s own website and major European carriers and retailers.
