Cubot KingKong Power with MediaTek MT8788 and 10,600mAh battery announced

Cubot has just added another smartphone to its King Kong family of rugged phones, the Cubot KingKong Power. This device comes with impressive protection features, including IP68 and IP69K certifications, making it resistant to water and dust. The smartphone also looks shockproof, although there is no mention of MIL-STD-810 in the description.

The Cubot KingKong Power boasts some impressive memory specs with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB ROM, which can be expanded up to 1 TB with a microSD card. The RAM is also expandable up to 8GB using virtual memory technology, resulting to a total of 16GB RAM.

The smartphone’s screen is compact, at 6.5-inches and the resolution is good at 1080×2400 with 405ppi, but it lacks a higher refresh rate. The device comes with a large 10600mAh battery capacity and fast charging capabilities of 33W.

While the camera specifications are decent, with a triple rear camera setup of 48+20+2 MP and a front camera of 16 MP, they may not be enough for those who demand more from their smartphone cameras.

The MediaTek MT8788 chipset, which is typically found in tablets, may also be a concern for some users who require more power and speed.

The Cubot KingKong Power supports various mobile networks and has GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo navigation. Android 13 is the operating system, and there are several sensors, including an accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, zoom, light, and side fingerprint scanner. The smartphone also comes with NFC support and a Type-C v2.0 USB port.

The price of $249.99 for the Cubot KingKong Power is reasonable, with the option to get a discount with a coupon. However, the performance of the MediaTek chipset may be a concern for some users, especially if they require more power and speed from their smartphones. The phone is currently tagged as coming soon on Aliexpress.
