Date confirmed: Qualcomm set to launch Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in November!

Smartphone chipset maker, Qualcomm has confirmed the dates for its next big launch event, and it’s likely to be where we see the introduction of the rumored Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.

We’re just seeing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset appear inside smartphones, yet our attention is already being drawn to the next-generation internals we’ll see in the top-end phones of 2023.

We expect this Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset to power some of the biggest flagship smartphones of next year, including the Samsung Galaxy S23 and OnePlus 11.

Whatever the chip is called, it’s expected to be 4nm with the model number SM8550. Leaks have suggested it comes with four different CPU islands, making it far more complex than Qualcomm’s chipset for 2022.

The chip company uploaded details of its next Snapdragon Summit on its official website (via GSMArena). The listing has since been taken down, but based on screenshots, the 3-day event is set to take place between November 14-17.

Rather than being a rumor stunt, the company didn’t intend to release any information about the summit just yet as Qualcomm historically doesn’t announce events this early. We’re just not sure yet if we can count on those dates being right.

We’re predicting it’ll be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, but there’s no guarantee it will appear. We will keep our fingers crossed.
