Ghana and Nigeria get Huawei Y6P with Helio P22 CPU

Huawei Y6P have just been announced in Ghana and Nigeria. The device is the smaller version of the Y7P which was announced earlier in the country. The major selling point of the new Y6P is it large 5000mAh battery. The device boast triple camera sensors at the back and run on the Mediatek Helio P22 on the inside.

The Y6P comes in a 6.3-inches display with a U-shaped notch above the screen. The display itself has IPS panel with 720 x 1600 pixels, and uses 20:9 aspect ratio.

The CPU used is MT6762R, also known as Helio P22. It has 8-cores ARM Cortex-A53 CPUs @2.0GHz, along with PowerVR GE8320 GPU. Although the Y6P is available in three storage options; 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM, 3GB RAM + 64GB ROM and 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM, but the version launched in Nigeria is the 3GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.

As for the optics, the device has three camera modules at the back. These includes a 13-megapixel main lens, 5-megapixel ultra-wide shooter and a 2-megapixel depth snapper, featuring PDAF, F/1.8 and a single LED flash. At the front, you are getting a single 8-megapixel selfie camera with HDR support.

The phone is offering a large 5000mAh battery and Google Android 10 with EMUI 10.1 HMS out of the box. The battery supports 10W fast charging via USB 2.0, and can even charge other devices as well, thanks to the OTG support.

Huawei Y6P pricing in Ghana and Nigeria

The Huawei Y6p is priced at GHS. 799 in Ghana, and N64,900 in Nigeria, putting it directly against the likes of Xiaomi Redmi 9 (see our detailed review of the Redmi 9), Infinix Note 7 Lite and the Tecno Camon 15. Preording begins in Nigeria today, while folks over at Ghana might need to wait until the 28th.
