Design and Build Quality

The Infinix GT 20 Pro not only performs but also impresses visually. The packaging itself reflects the attention to detail in the product’s presentation. The smartphone comes in three distinctive colors—Mecha Blue, Mecha Orange, and Mecha Silver—each exuding a futuristic vibe that complements its gaming-centric design.

The rear panel features a smooth plastic finish with an underlying pattern, enhanced by an LED panel that syncs with your music or notifications. Although the materials aren’t top-tier, the design is both visually appealing and functional, with an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance.

The phone’s dimensions are well-suited for a gaming device, although the side buttons could use a longer travel distance for better tactile feedback. Additionally, the inclusion of a case and screen protector in the box is thoughtful, though the slick back design could benefit from a more textured surface to prevent accidental slips.

Display Performance

The GT 20 Pro’s 6.78-inch AMOLED display is one of its standout features. During our tests, the screen delivered vivid colors and deep blacks, making it ideal for gaming and media consumption. The display’s 1080×2436 resolution and 144 Hz refresh rate provide a smooth, responsive experience, particularly during fast-paced gaming sessions.

We recorded a maximum brightness of 980 cd/m², which ensures the screen remains visible even in direct sunlight. The display also has excellent anti-glare properties, and the oleophobic coating helps keep it free of fingerprints. The automatic brightness adjustment works well, although it could use more customization options.

A minor drawback is the default Vivid Colors profile, which tends to oversaturate the display. However, switching to the Original Color profile offers a more balanced, albeit slightly greenish, tone that may appeal to users who prefer natural colors.

Camera Capabilities

The Infinix GT 20 Pro is equipped with a 108 MP main camera, supported by two additional sensors for depth and macro shots. In well-lit conditions, the main camera delivers good image quality with plenty of detail, though the advantages of the full 108 MP resolution over the standard 12 MP mode are minimal unless you’re cropping or printing large images.

Low-light performance is mixed; while noise is managed fairly well, the overall quality diminishes in darker settings, with reduced detail and color accuracy. The digital zoom is disappointing, as the 108 MP mode doesn’t provide the clarity you might expect, often resulting in overly sharp and noisy images.

Video recording is a strong point, with the ability to shoot 4K video at 60 fps, a feature that’s still uncommon in this price range. The footage is generally smooth and detailed, though the colors can sometimes appear oversaturated in bright conditions.

The 32 MP front camera is adequate for selfies and video calls, offering good detail and decent color reproduction, though it struggles with dynamic range in harsh lighting.

Software and User Experience

In the past, Infinix’s XOS interface has not been my favorite, but on this device, it offers a smooth user experience. Running on the latest Android 14, the interface is responsive and well-optimized, handling multitasking and app switching efficiently. XOS 14 also features a clean design, free from the intrusive ads and bloatware that have plagued earlier versions, though it still includes many features not found in stock Android.

One interesting addition is the Dynamic Port, a feature similar to Apple’s Dynamic Island. This feature creates an interactive area around the front camera, displaying notifications and other important information in a dynamic, user-friendly manner. These small, thoughtful touches enhance the overall user experience on the GT 20 Pro.

The stereo speakers deliver clear and robust audio, adding to the gaming and media experience. However, the lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack might be a downside for users who prefer wired audio options. Given that this phone is aimed at budget gamers, including a headphone jack would have been a sensible choice.

Performance and Gaming

Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultimate chipset paired with the Mali-G610 MC6 GPU, the GT 20 Pro delivers solid performance. Our tests showed that it handles demanding games and multitasking with ease, placing it firmly in the upper mid-range category and making it a strong option for budget-conscious gamers.

The gaming experience is further enhanced by the 144 Hz refresh rate display and Infinix’s AI-VRS algorithm, which intelligently manages system resources to ensure smooth gameplay. The device also remained relatively cool during extended gaming sessions, thanks to its efficient thermal management system.

Battery Life and Charging

The GT 20 Pro is equipped with a 5000 mAh battery, which is decent for a gaming smartphone. In our tests, the phone lasted through a full day of typical use, including gaming, streaming, and browsing. However, heavy users, particularly gamers, might need a midday recharge.

Charging is quick, with the included 45W charger able to fully charge the battery in under an hour. While the absence of wireless charging is a downside for those who prefer it, the fast charging feature compensates somewhat. That said, a faster charging speed of 65W or more would have been preferable given the current market standards, but it’s still a good value for the price.

Final Verdict

After extensive testing, the Infinix GT 20 Pro proves to be a solid choice for gamers and tech enthusiasts on a budget. With its attractive design, strong performance, and thoughtful software features, it offers great value. While there are areas for improvement, such as the camera’s low-light performance and the lack of wireless charging, the GT 20 Pro is a compelling option for those seeking a capable and stylish gaming smartphone at an affordable price.
