OPPO has launched its new A3 Pro smartphone in China, targeting the mid-range market. The A3 Pro boasts impressive water resistance capabilities, making it a standout feature in this category.
The phone is the first OPPO model to achieve certification under three water resistance standards: IP69, IP68, and IP66. Here’s a breakdown of what each signifies:
- IP69: This certification signifies the phone’s resistance to high-pressure, hot water jets.
- IP68: The A3 Pro is immersion-proof, meaning it can withstand being submerged in water for a specified time and depth.
- IP66: The phone is protected against powerful water jets and heavy splashes.
While these certifications provide various levels of water protection, OPPO clarifies that they are not cumulative. For instance, the IP69 rating for hot water resistance doesn’t guarantee the same level of protection against impacts covered by IP68.
Beyond water resistance, the A3 Pro is built for durability with Corning Gorilla Victus 2 protecting the display. Additionally, the blue color variant features OPPO’s proprietary Crystal Shield technology on the back for enhanced drop resistance.
Moving on to specifications, the A3 Pro carries a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 processor, a 64MP main camera with a secondary sensor, a 5000mAh battery with 67W fast charging, and a 6.7-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
The base version of the A3 Pro is expected to launch in China at a price point of approximately $260, placing it competitively within the mid-range segment alongside other popular options like the Redmi Turbo 3 and Realme GT Neo 6 SE. As it is the custom of OPPO, this device may sell under a different moniker in other markets.
