The Oukitel WP39, a tough and reliable smartphone built for those who lead active lifestyles, has recently hit the market. However, compared to its predecessor, the April-announced Oukitel WP35, the WP39 offers minimal upgrades.
Slight Downgrade in RAM
The primary difference lies in the RAM capacity. The WP39 comes with 6GB of RAM, whereas the WP35 boasted 8GB. Aside from that, there are some minor design variations.
Rugged Credentials
Both smartphones adhere to the same IP68, IP69K, and MIL-STD-810H certifications, ensuring resistance to water, drops, and harsh environments.
Solid Performance
The WP39 is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ chipset, enabling 5G connectivity and achieving an expected AnTuTu score of around 400,000 points.
Storage Options
Storage remains ample with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, expandable via a microSD card slot.
Long-Lasting Battery
A massive 11000mAh battery fuels the WP39, although fast charging is limited to 18W. Despite its size and protective shell, the phone maintains a manageable thickness of 15mm and a weight of 360 grams.
Display
The display offers a decent 6.6-inch IPS panel with a high resolution of 1080×2408 pixels (400 ppi). However, it lacks a high refresh rate.
Cameras
The camera system features a 32MP front-facing sensor and a triple-lens rear setup: a 64MP main sensor (Sony IMX682), an 8MP night vision camera with infrared illumination, and a 2MP macro sensor.
Price and Availability
The Oukitel WP39 is currently available for purchase at a price of around ₽15,759 ($191), making it slightly cheaper than the WP35 which is priced at ₽16,686 ($202).
The Oukitel WP39 is a competent rugged smartphone with a powerful processor, long-lasting battery, and decent cameras. However, the lack of significant improvements over the WP35 makes it a somewhat uninspired choice for those already considering its predecessor.
