Remember the Oukitel RT7 series? It was the very first tablet on planet Earth with a massive 32,000mAh battery. Now, rumor has it that the company is preparing to launch the RT8, and as of this morning, we received the full spec sheet and an early image of what the Oukitel RT8 will look like.
It is important to note that the RT7 was available in a 4G and 5G variant, but the specifications we received point to a 4G-enabled MediaTek CPU, which means this might just be the 4G model.
Also, Oukitel might have decided to reduce the battery size on the RT8 from the 32,000mAh capacity used on the RT7, to just 20,000mAh battery. This corresponds to the battery capacity used on the older RT6, meaning the RT8 should be lighter and less bulky than the RT7, since a whooping 12,000mAh battery is now dished out.
So, what else do we know about this upcoming tablet? Well, it appears Oukitel is maintaining a focus on battery performance and durability. So you can still expect a large tablet rugged certification like IP68, IP69K, and MIL-STD-810H.
One interesting feature mentioned in the specs, which was clearly absent on the RT7 4G and 5G models, is the presence of a night camera with infrared illumination, which could mean better low-light photography for outdoor users.
Back to the hardware specifications, the RT8 will be equipped with the MediaTek Helio G99 chipset. Just for comparison sake, the current RT7 4G has MTK8788 CPU, while the 5G model is power by Dimensity 720 CPU. The spec sheet further states that the RT8 will come with 6GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage.
In terms of display, expect a standard IPS panel with an 11-inch diagonal and a resolution of 1920×1200. Camera hardware specifications also remain the same, except for the inclusion of an Infrared Sensor. These include a 48MP main, 20MP Night, and a 5MP macro, while a single 32MP selfie snapper is used on the front.
One thing we had wished for though, in addition to all of the above, is a more recent Android OS like Android 14, but the spec sheet still states Android 13, the same OS used on the previous model.
As for pricing, details remain unclear. While an AliExpress listing suggests a price of $499.98, the official website hints at a lower figure of $299.99. However, until sales officially begin, it’s wise to approach these numbers cautiously.
