QUBO X668 unboxing and quick overview

QUBO X668 DEALS

This is QUBO X668 unboxing. Strange name? Well, it is strange to me too, but curiosity made me to go this route, throwing almost N60K to purchase a model of smartphone from a brand I knew nothing about.

I’ll tell you where that curiosity is headed in my full review coming up next week. But today, let look at a quick unboxing of QUBO X668 smartphone and what you should be expecting out of the box.

The phone is all wrapped in a simple and almost plain box with a layer of waterproof atop.

On opening the box, you’ll notice QUBO’s X668 lying above the phone’s accessories. The phone is available in Red and Blue colors, which is the color sent to us.

Qubo X668 Box Content

  1. X668 4GB RAM with 64GB ROM
  2. 10W Charging brick
  3. USB Type-C cable
  4. Cheap Earpiece
  5. Clear Silicon Case
  6. SIM Ejection and some manuals

From the front, you are getting a 6.52-inches screen with 720 x 1600 pixels. There is also a dewdrop notch on the head where the front facing camera is housed.

The screen brightness nit is very ok for indoor use, but it is less vibrant once you step out door with the phone, especially during sunny days.

QUBO X668 has traditional button and port layout. Power button and Volume rockers on right, while a 3-in-1 card slot is kept on the left hand side, housing dual Nano-SIM and one SD-Card.

There is a 3.5mm audio jack retained on the top of the phone, while the loud-less loud speaker, USB Type-C and the only audio receiver is kept in the basement.

Turning to the back, you are getting three camera modules that includes a 13-megapixel main lens, 2-megapixel macro and a third AI depth sensor.

There is also a rear placed fingerprint scanner, with QUBO logo seating right under it.

Some samples images taken with the rear main camera didn’t really match up with the price of the phone, but I reserve full details on this for the full review.

Talking about price; the QUBO X668 is around N57,000 on Jumia currently. At this price, you are getting 4GB RAM with 64GB ROM, UNISOC SC9863a CPU and PowerVR GE8322 GPU. The phone has a 4900mAh battery on the inside, support dual Nano SIMs, has a rear place fingerprint scanner, and powered by Google Android 11.

Summary and Impression

Before diving in to full functionality and performance review, I’d say I’m not really disappointed with the phone, aside the fact that I feel the phone is a little too pricy especially considering the weak display brightness and camera performance. But then, the 4GB RAM could be an advantage considering that Tecno’s latest Spark 8 with 2GB RAM is priced around same segment.
