Samsung is gearing up to launch its new Galaxy F05 in India, with fresh leaks providing a glimpse into the upcoming device’s design. The Galaxy F05, recently certified for sale in India by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), is expected to be released alongside the Galaxy M05. This leak offers a closer look at what users can expect from Samsung’s latest entry-level smartphone, hinting at some notable design improvements over its predecessor, the Galaxy F04.

Design and Build

The Galaxy F05 is set to introduce a more premium design language compared to the F04, which launched in January 2023. The most significant upgrade appears to be the switch from a plastic back panel to a faux leather back. This vegan leather finish is expected to provide not only a more luxurious look but also a better grip, enhancing the overall feel of the device.

The front of the Galaxy F05 continues with Samsung’s use of the dated notch design, though it adopts a slightly updated look with a U-shaped notch—referred to as an Infinity-U display by Samsung. This notch houses the phone’s selfie camera, maintaining a balance between modern aesthetics and practical functionality.

The rear of the device features a dual-camera setup, vertically aligned in the top-left corner. Between the two cameras sits an LED flash, which is positioned to the right. The exact specifications of these cameras have yet to be confirmed, but it is expected that Samsung will aim to improve upon the 13 MP primary sensor and 2 MP depth sensor found in the Galaxy F04.

On the side of the Galaxy F05, the power and volume buttons are traditionally placed on the right, following Samsung’s consistent design choices.

Expected Color Options

While the leaked renders show the Galaxy F05 in a blue color variant, it’s expected that the device will be available in at least two color options. The exact color choices have not been fully disclosed, but the design enhancements are likely to make the F05 stand out more compared to the F04.

What to Expect in Terms of Specifications

Though the design details have been the focal point of these leaks, the hardware specifications of the Galaxy F05 remain under wraps. However, there is speculation that the F05 will see some improvements over the F04’s specifications. For reference, the Galaxy F04 came equipped with a 6.5-inch 720×1600 LCD touchscreen, powered by the MediaTek Helio P35 chipset, with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. The F04 also featured a 5 MP selfie camera and was powered by a 5,000 mAh battery with support for 15W wired charging.

Given the market expectations and the incremental improvements Samsung typically makes with each new generation, the Galaxy F05 might retain the 5,000 mAh battery while potentially offering faster charging speeds, a slightly more powerful processor, or an improved display. These enhancements would ensure that the Galaxy F05 remains competitive in the entry-level segment, particularly in a market as price-sensitive as India.

Launch Timeline

The Galaxy F05 is anticipated to launch soon in India, although Samsung has yet to make an official announcement. The simultaneous launch of the Galaxy F05 and the Galaxy M05 suggests that Samsung is preparing a coordinated release strategy, likely targeting the budget-conscious consumer segment. The Galaxy M05, like the F05, has also appeared on certification sites, including the BIS and Wi-Fi Alliance, indicating that its launch is imminent.

With its upgraded design and expected enhancements, the Samsung Galaxy F05 is shaping up to be a notable improvement over the Galaxy F04. The shift to a faux leather back and the updated Infinity-U notch design are clear indicators of Samsung’s efforts to bring a more refined experience to its budget-friendly F-series lineup. As the official launch approaches, more details about the Galaxy F05’s specifications and pricing will likely emerge, providing a clearer picture of what this new device will offer to consumers in India.

For now, the leaked renders of the Galaxy F05 have set the stage for what could be one of Samsung’s more appealing entry-level offerings in 2024.
