Tecno brings new Chameleon Coloring Technology for future mobile devices

Going beyond the Camon 19 Pro Modrian Edition, Tecno Mobile has just introduce a new Chameleon Coloring Technology for it future mobile devices at the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC) of 2023. The technology, when embedded in a device, can produce a wide range of color patterns with just a touch of a button, just as shown in the video below.

What is Tecno’s Chameleon Coloring Technology All About?

The Chameleon Coloring Technology is a prism coloring technology that uses a sub-micron grid of prism material. This technology changes direction when an electric field is applied, producing a full spectrum of iridescent colors by scattering light in multiple different wavelengths. It is important to note that this material is not a display and does not produce any light. Instead, it colors the light that scatters off its surface.

The arrangement of the sub-micron prism can be controlled through the device software, which lets users manually pick from 1600 different colors or potentially change automatically based on battery status, music, or notifications. The material is also durable and can withstand up to 2 million changes, making it suitable for multiple changes throughout the day.

The Chameleon Coloring Technology has a quick color-changing feature, capable of changing colors in 0.03 seconds. It also has negligible power consumption, with 100 changes throughout the day requiring as much power as watching a 5-minute video.

While Tecno has previously launched a smartphone with a color-changing back, the Techno Camon 19 Pro Mondrian Edition, using polychromatic photoisomer technology for the back panel, the new Chameleon Coloring Technology does not yet have a device it is planned for. However, it is expected that we will soon see a Tecno smartphone incorporating the technology.
