Just as promised, Tecno Camon X and the Camon X Pro is finally here. Both the Camon X and the Camon X Pro are the true successor to the Tecno Camon CX and Camon CX Air. You can even call the X and X Pro as Tecno Camon C11 or Camon C12, if you’ve been following the Camon series since Camon C5.
Earlier this year, we were tipped about an upcoming Tecno Camon CM, which was said to go official early in January. We were expecting the device to be the successor of the the last year’s Tecno Camon CX and CX Air. But when the device was announced, it all turned out disappointing, as the only exciting part of the phone was it 18:9 full vision display. But the Camon CM is just a tip as to what fans should expect from the Tecno Camon X.

Tecno Camon X and Camon X Pro Display and Camera
First, the Tecno Camon X and the Camon X Pro packs a 6-inch IPS LCD display, built into an 18:9 aspect ratio. The display resolution is 2160 x 1080 pixel on the pro edition, and 1440 x 720p on the Camon X standard edition, both covered with Corning Gorilla, to combat scratches. As for the Camera department, well, you are getting a 16-megapixel main camera, with support for Phase Detection Auto-Focus, along with a quad-LED flash. This rear camera is able to combine multiple microns in order to produce HD images up to 64-megapixel, what looks like a 4X/8X digital Zoom on DSLR, A feature I can not really say much on, until I’m able to test it myself.
Interestingly, Tecno decided to mount a whopping 24-megapixel sensor at the front of the Camon X pro, which is larger than the 20-megapixel sensor offered by Infinix on it Hot S3. However, the Camon X retains just 20MP sensor upfront. You also get an adjustable dual LED light upfront to aid your night shorts.

Tecno Camon X and Camon X Pro Hardware and Software
Coming to the hardware department, Tecno decided to go for a MediaTek MT6763 Helio P23 octa-core processor. Now for those who don’t know, this processor is built on a 64-bit ARM Cortex-A53 CPU, clocked at 2.3Ghz along with Mali-G71 MP2 GPU. The Soc have support for eMMC 5.1, Cat-6, Cat-7 DL / Cat-13 UL, and Bluetooth 4.2.
Along with the processor, you have option either to go for a 3GB RAM and 16GB internal storage on the standard camon X, or for a 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage on the Camon X Pro. Whichever option you decided to go for, you can still add up a 256GB external SD card.
On the software department, Tecno Camon X and the X pro Comes with Android 8.1 (Oreo), underneath Tecno’s propitiatory HiOS 3.3. In my review of Tecno Camon CM, HiOS v3.2 impressed me much, and I do hope to get same experience when I’ll be playing with Camon X.

Tecno Camon X and the X Pro will be available in 22 countries across Africa, including Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Egypt, Cameroon, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, among others. It will also launch in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and India.
As for pricing, the device will set you back at $159 for the standard variants with 3GB RAM and 16GB internal storage, while the Camon X Pro with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage will go as high as 189 Dollars.
