Every generation of the Tecno Spark series has always created a higher buzz than the outgoing generation. The Spark 2 created more buzz than the Spark K7, and so did the Spark 3 than the 2. And now, Tecno had recently released the Spark 4, and as you would expect, the device is already trending on various media platforms.

Some times though, it could get tempting to know that there’s a latest product in the market, especially one that is of same brand and model with what you already have. One could easily get tempted, either to jump in the bandwagon of the new, or remain still, holding on to the old.

Well, the easiest way to that decision is knowing what actually is new in the new comer; like what has changed, what has been added or removed, and so on. So in this simple comparison post, I’ll be placing side-by-side, the latest Tecno Spark 4 against the older Spark 3, in order to aid your purchase decision.

Note however, that the Spark 3 Pro is currently available in the market, while Tecno have not yet, officially released the Spark 4 Pro. Therefore, the comparison is between the standard Tecno Spark 4 and the Spark 3, and not their Pro versions.

Tecno Spark 4 vs Tecno Spark 3: Comparison Summary

Uhhhm… OK, maybe I should try to answer the question in the post title: Has anything change between the Spark 3 and the Spark 4? O yes, lot of things has changed, and of course, most of the changes are for the better. For example;

  1. The screen has gotten taller and the display has gotten larger on the new Spark 4. A 6.52-inch with 720 x 1600 pixels resolution as against the 6.2-inches with 720 x 1520 pixels resolution on the Spark 3. The display has also shifted from a traditional L-shaped notch, to a more compact Waterdrop notch, resulting to a better screen-to-body ratio.
  2. Storage and RAM also got a leap in size on the 4. You are now getting a standard 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM, as against the 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM on the older Spark 3.
  3. What else has changed? Camera! The Spark 4 also added extra 0.3-megapixel sensor to the number counts of it rear cameras, making a total of three rear sensors on the new comer, as against the dual rear sensors used on the older 3.
  4. Is that all? Not yet! Battery also got better on the Spark 4. Now, it 4000mAh capacity, no longer the 3500mAh used on the Spark 3.

Well, amidst the things that have changed, are also things that hasn’t changed. For example; the CPU remains Mediatek MT6761 and the front facing camera remains 8-megapixel sensors on both sides. Also the software remains Android 9.0 on both devices, except for the little alterations in the user interface, which introduces HiOS v5.5 on the Spark 4, as against HiOS v4.6 on the Tecno Spark 3.
