Xiaomi has confirmed that it will launch its next foldable phone, the MIX Fold 3, on August 14th in China. The company has also posted images of the phone, revealing its design.

As the direct successor to the MIX Fold2, the MIX Fold 3 is said to be both thin and light, and will feature a new hinge design that is said to be more durable and reliable.

The phone is also expected to have a larger folding display, a powerful processor (probably the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU), and a versatile and upgraded camera system.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun says that the MIX Fold 3 is Xiaomi’s “new breakthrough” in a series of underlying technology fields, such as structure and technology.

He says that the company has started the development of the MIX Fold 3 from scratch, and has reconstructed it from the original point.

“Through continuous efforts, Xiaomi engineers have come up with the optimal solution of current technology and craftsmanship when it comes to the hinge”, he added.

Teasers for the MIX Fold 3 released today show what might look like a leather back for the black variant, while the Golden version was believed to sport a glass back.

However, an insider, through Digital Chat Station has revealed that both color options will sport a glass back, contrary to what the teaser images showed.

The teasers also shows LEICA VARIO-SUMMICRON lens, f/1.8 to f/2.9 aperture for the main and the periscope telephoto camera.

Based on earlier rumours, the phone is said to include a 3.2X portrait camera and a 5X periscope telephoto camera.

In addition to 67W wired fast charging, it is also said to include 50W wireless charging, and we can expect the aforementioned Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC for the phone. We should know all the details when the phone goes official next week.
