It appears that Samsung will continue to provide its extended S-series portfolio. The Galaxy S25 Edge, which the firm unveiled earlier this year, appears to be here to stay at least for another generation.
Prior to its release next year, the Galaxy S26 Edge and Galaxy S26 Ultra have both appeared in the GSMA IMEI database.
Galaxy S26 Edge might launch alongside the rest of the S26 series
The listing states that the S26 Ultra has model numbers SM-S948U and SM-S948N, while the S26 Edge is registered under model number SM-S947U. As is customary, the US variations are indicated by the suffix “U,” while the South Korean version is indicated by the suffix “N.”
The basic Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus are not yet visible in the database. Don’t worry, though; they will probably appear soon.
Most notably, the Galaxy S26 Edge is listed in the IMEI database beside to the Ultra. This may indicate that, in contrast to the S25 series, where the S25 Edge was shown separately, Samsung may release its slimmer variant together with the rest of the S26 range.
Samsung’s dual-chip approach is anticipated to make a comeback under the hood with the S26 series. Due to alleged yield problems with the Exynos 2500, the Snapdragon-only S25 lineup was followed by the S26 series, which is expected to divide responsibilities between Qualcomm and Samsung chips.
The Exynos 2600 will power the S26, S26+, and S26 Edge across Europe and Asia, according to a South Korean report. In the meanwhile, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will power the S26 Ultra worldwide and the complete series in important regions such as the US.
Samsung is said to have begun internal development on One UI 8.5 for the S26 series at the same time.
