After series of rumors followed by multiple denials, Google finally announces Pixel 5a as the direct successor to the Pixel 4a of August last year. Recall that Google announced the Pixel 5 5G in September of 2020 as well, and the new comer is not much of a different from that model.
Notably, and in comparison to the standard Pixel 5, the 5a comes in a slightly larger screen of 6.34-inches, instead of 6.0-inches on the older model, but misses out on 90Hz refresh rating found on the older model.
The battery capacity is also bigger on the new 5a; 4680mAh juice, instead of 4080mAh, but the model has a reduced RAM capacity; now 6GB of RAM instead of 8GB RAM, plus, you are given a single color option.
As for the built quality, CPU, connectivity options, OS and even camera department, everything is same as the initial Pixel 5. The device has a metal unibody design with a soft finish, and it has IP67 rating for water and dust resistance. You also get dual speakers with dual mic input, while Google Android 11 with up to 3-years of major update is available out the box.

Google Pixel 5a 5G pricing and availability
The Pixel 5a comes only in Mostly Black color. The model is currently on Pre-order in Japan and the United State at an average price of $449 US Dollars, and will ship starting August 26th. There was no mention as to whether the phone will be available in other region or not.
