Huawei has finally released EMUI v9.0 for the Huawei P20 and Huawei P20 Pro. The new software update which is available Over The Air (OTA), is based on the latest Google Android 9.0 moniker. When Huawei announced the Mate 20 series with Android 9.0 (Pie) out of the box, it was a clear signal that older Huawei smartphones will likely get upgraded to 9.0 Pie.
And luckily, few weeks after announcing Mate 20, Huawei confirmed that it will update the P20 and P20 Pro, Mate 10, Honor Play and few other Huawei smartphones with Android 9.0 Pie. And now, owners of Huawei Mate 20 and the Mate 20 Pro are now getting Android 9.0 (Pie) Update in China.
As of now, the latest EMUI 9.0 is available only for the users of P20 and P20 Pro in China. However, Huawei has assured that users in other countries will receive the update before the year ends. The new update brings gesture-based user navigation, second-generation GPU Turbo and redesigned settings menu among other things. Apart from the Android Pie specific features, the update also brings the November security patch for the P20 and P20 Pro, and few UI redesign for EMUI OS.
Remember that the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro was announced earlier this year with a 6.1-inch LCD display, bearing 2,240 x 1,080 pixels resolution and an 18.7:9 aspect ratio. The device was powered by Kirin 970 processor mated to 6GB of RAM and 128GB built-in storage. Out of the box, the P20 Pro boots Android 8.1 Oreo with EMUI 8.1 and is powered by a 4,000mAh battery.
Coming to the imaging department, P20 Pro comes with Leica-branded 40-megapixel + 20-megapixel + 8-megapixel setup on the rear panel and a 24-megapixel front snapper, while the P20 Pro has a dual 12 + 20-megapixel rear shooter and a single 24-megapixel selfie camera.
One other important thing worth noting is the camera prowess of Huawei P20 series. And sure enough, the new OS update, Wil add more suger to the smartphone camera performance.
