Xiaomi has just unveiled its latest smart band, the Xiaomi Smart Band 8, which comes with a variety of features that could make it a popular choice among fitness enthusiasts and those looking to monitor their health. The Smart Band 8 is the direct successor to the Mi Band 7, and it comes with notable specification upgrades over it predecessor.
The Smart Band 8 boasts a 1.62-inch AMOLED display with a high resolution and brightness level. It comes with a new quick-release mechanism and a sleek metallic texture, as well as two new middle frame colors: “light gold” and “bright black.” In addition to a variety of straps, Xiaomi offers a novel necklace-shaped strap and a leather strap for the band.
One of the band’s most impressive features is its 150+ workout modes, including professional courses such as the running bean mode and somatosensory boxing course, which could appeal to fitness enthusiasts.
The band’s smart health assistant includes SpO2 monitoring, heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, and female period tracking, among other features, making it useful for people looking to monitor their health.
The band also has a new running bean mode that provides a more professional running experience. It can track conventional running data as well as 13 professional data such as stride frequency, stride length, ground contact vacancy ratio, ground impact force, and more. This feature requires the use of running pods and professional training.
Additionally, the Smart Band 8 comes with smart controls such as music control, remote camera control, quick message reply, and incoming call alerts. It also has 100+ new watch faces with AOD support, including the Mars Super Wallpaper.
The band’s battery life is impressive, offering up to 16 days of typical usage, and it has a charging time of about 1 hour. The band is also water-resistant up to 50 meters and comes with an optical heart rate and blood oxygen sensor and a six-axis motion sensor.
The Xiaomi Smart Band 8 is priced at CNY 239 (US$ 35 / INR 2,850 approx.) without NFC and CNY 279 (US$ 40 / INR 3,330 approx.) with NFC. Even though the band comes only in Black and White colors, the company offers different styles of straps separately. The Xiaomi Smart Band 8 is already on sale in China.
