itel has officially launched the S24 smartphone in Nigeria, the successor to the popular S23 series. This budget-friendly phone comes with significant improvements in processing power and camera capabilities, all at an attractive price point.
As we have stated before, this is more of an S23 4G successor, and should not be taken as the successor to the S23 Plus. While we await the S24 Plus, it is still worth noting that the S24 is still a promising device and a welcome upgrade over the S24 4G. Here are some of the features that set it apart.
Key Features of the itel S24:
CPU upgrade to the latest Helio G91:
The S24 is the world’s first smartphone to feature the MediaTek Helio G91 chipset, offering a noticeable performance upgrade compared to its predecessor. Users can expect smoother multitasking and better handling of demanding games.
Company’s first 108-megapixel camera:
The S24 takes a major leap in camera technology with a 108-megapixel main sensor, a significant upgrade from the previous generation’s 50-megapixel limit. This allows for capturing photos with exceptional detail and clarity.
90Hz is a welcome option given the price:
The S24 features a 6.6-inch display with a smooth 90Hz refresh rate for a more responsive user experience. Recall that the S23 4G came with similar screen specs, it just that the panel had 60Hz refresh, and not 90.
Standard battery setup:
Nothing crazy about the battery. It is still the same 5000mAh battery with 18W fast charging. The older model came with the same battery capacity, but only had 10W charger. 18W is the company’s fastest charging speed so. Although the recently announced itel RS4 with Helio G99 CPU came with 45W charger, but that is nowhere near any African market just yet.
Pricing and Availability:
Coming to pricing and availability, the itel S24 is already on sale in Nigeria starting today. It will be available in three colors Dawn White, Coastline Blue, and Starry Black. The phone is priced at N159,100 for the model with 8GB RAM and 256GB ROM.
itel S24 vs. Competitors:
Any possible close competition? Yes, and given the pricing, itel might lose. The Redmi 13C and Galaxy A05 are both on top of the competition chart. From what we can see, the included base storage options on these models, and their option to offer a 50MP main camera sensor, instead of the 108MP on the S24 helped bring their pricing from as low as N119,000.
