Lenovo has just announced the Legion Y700 (2023), a rare compact Android tablet that offers impressive performance without breaking the bank. It’s the successor to the original Legion Y700, launched a year and a half ago, and it comes with some awesome upgrades.
First off, the tablet’s got a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. This replaces the Snapdragon 870 found on the predecessor.
The screen is still a compact 8.8 inches, but the refresh rate has been bumped up from 120Hz to a faster 144Hz. The new Legion Y700 (2023) is also lighter and thinner.
It’s 25g lighter and 0.3mm thinner compared to it predecessor. Thankfully, this does not have any toll on the battery configuration. You are still getting the same 6550mAh battery with 45W fast charger, just like the original Legion Y700.
The Legion Y700 (2023) is available in three storage options. These includes 12GB RAM + 256GB ROM, 12GB RAM + 512GB ROM and 16GB RAM + 512GB ROM. All these variations still gets an optional 1TB support via an external SD card.
Now, let’s talk about the sound. The Legion Y700 (2023) has not just one, but two vibration motors. You are also getting Dolby Atmos stereo speakers that can pump out sound at 6.8 watts, while the software part is handled by Google’s Android 13 with ZUI 15.
One thing to note though, is that the 3.5mm headphone jack found on the older Y700 is now gone. But in exchange, you get an extra USB-C port.
This means the Legion Y700 (2023) has two USB Type-C port. So you can be charging your tablet and still be able to connect a mouse or keyboard without an external dongle.
Although the Legion Y700 (2023) is not built for camera prowess, but that does not mean it is without lenses. The tablet has a single 8-megapixel selfie camera on the front, while a set of 13-megapixel main lens, and a dedicated 2-megapixel macro camera are used on the rear.
As for pricing, Lenovo wanted to make the Legion Y700 (2023) really affordable, and they did, even cheaper than it predecessor. The starting price for the 12GB/256GB version is only 2399 yuan (or $334). This is cheaper than the older Legion Y700 which came at 2699 yuan (or $375) for the same storage option.
And if you need more space, there are bigger memory versions with 12GB RAM + 512GB ROM or 16GB RAM + 512GB ROM, pegged at 2599 yuan (or $361) and 2799 yuan (or $389) respectively.
