ZTE’s Nubia, has unveiled its latest flagship smartphone, the Nubia Z50 Ultra, which comes just a few months after the launch of the Z50 in December. The device boasts an impressive 6.8-inch FHD+ screen with 120Hz AMOLED panel, 960Hz touch sampling rate and a 100% DCI-P3 color gamut.
It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and comes with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB UFS 4.0 storage. To address concerns about overheating, Nubia has equipped the phone with a 4212mm² VC cooling chamber and a brand-new VC segmented bionic design that improves heat dissipation up to four times.
The device also features the brand’s fourth-generation under-screen camera technology, which includes a 16MP selfie lens hidden right under the display. This offers a composite pixel size of 2.24μm and an f/2.0 aperture. The selfie and video effects are said to be significantly improved over the previous generation.
The phone’s rear camera setup comprises of a 64MP main camera with a custom Sony IMX787 flagship sensor, a 50MP 14mm ultrawide camera with macro option, and a fairly long 85mm 64MP periscope portrait telephoto camera.
The device is available in AG glass back, and there is also a Starlight AG glass model that uses nanoscale photolithographic texture, combined with 3D star diamond technology, to reproduce the strokes of famous oil paintings.
The Nubia Z50 Ultra runs on Android 13 with MyOS 13 and features a USB Type-C audio out, dual smart PA stereo speakers, and DTS. The device supports 5G SA/NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.2, and GPS as well as GLONASS. It comes with a 5000mAh battery with 80W fast charging.
The Nubia Z50 Ultra comes in Black and Silver colors and is priced at 3,999 yuan ($577) for 8GB+256GB, 4,299 yuan ($620) for 12GB+256GB, 4,699 yuan ($678) for 12GB+512GB, and 5,999 yuan ($865) for the top-end 16GB+1TB version. The 12GB+512GB Starry Sky Collection is priced at 4,999 yuan ($721). The phone is already on preorder, and will go on sale in China from March 14th.
