In the coming months, we expect to see more affordable 5G smartphones selling as low as under $200 USD. However, folks on budget who want to have a taste of 5G network, but can not wait until that time, well, you have few offers currently in the market to chose from. And the latest of them is from OPPO Mobile, dubbed the OPPO A92s 5G.
The A92s quietly went official in China today, and it is available in either Black or White colors. The base model with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage is priced at 2199 Yuan in China, translating to around $309 USD. There is also a higher memory version with 8GB RAM and same 128GB storage priced at 2499 Yuan in China, and about $350 USD. This makes the A92s one among the cheaper 5G mobile phones currently in market.
Being it a budget 5G smartphone means you are not getting high-end CPU like the Snapdragon 765G-series in the Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite or the more powerful Snapdragon 865-series in the likes of Samsung S20 or the OnePluse 8-series. Instead the Oppo A92s is powered by the Mediatek Dimensity 800 5G Chip. The SoC is an 8-core CPUs clocked at 2.0GHz, and pegged with Mali-G57MP4 GPU, and come with 5G SA/NSA bands.
The device itself comes in a 6.57-inch FHD+ display with 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution. interestingly, it has 120Hz refresh rate and 20:9 aspect ratio. There is a dual punch-hole cutout on the screen for dual front cameras. Oppo A92s runs on the latest ColorOS 7 based on Android 10 OS and it fueled by a 4,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging.
On the camera department, there are four camera modules at the back. These includes a 48-megapixel main shooter with Sony IMX586 sensor, f/1.7 aperture and a single LED flash, a secondary 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, 2-megapixel portrait lens and a fourth 2-megapixel macro lens. On the front, there a 16 MP + 2 MP dual selfie sensors with Sony IMX471 and f/2.0 aperture.
The Oppo A92s has a side-placed fingerprint scanner, comes in a thin 8.1mm frame and weighs 184 grams. It has USB Type-C and 3.5mm audio jack, and expected to arrive in India and other Asian market as OPPO F15s.
