Tecno’s flagship series of smartphones, the Phantom X2 series is now officially on sale in Nigeria. Tecno announced the Phantom X2 (AD8) and the X2 Pro (AD9), back on the 7th of December last year. Both phones are 5G enabled, and both are powered by the Dimensity 9000 flagship CPU from MediaTek.
The device was initially introduced in Saudi Arabia and has been selling in the region ever since. And in case you missed it, the Phantom X2 and the X2 Pro were both priced starting from SAR 2,699 ($718) and SAR 3,499, ($930).
Given the current exchange rate, one would expect a price tag somewhere between N400,000 to N600,000 in Nigeria, but surprisingly, they are cheaper than expected.
The base model, the Phantom X2 5G with 8GB RAM and 256GB ROM is priced at N373,900, while the Pro model with 12GB RAM and 256GB ROM will set you back at just N470,900. This is one of the most competitive pricing we’ve seen from Tecno in recent times.
You would be able to understand and appreciate this pricing better if you can recall that the Infinix Zero Ultra, which came into Nigeria above N370,000 and is mow priced above 400K, is behind the Phantom X2, especially the Pro model, hardware-wise.
Two appreciable hardware spec on the Zero Ultra is the whopping 200-megapixel main camera and the super fast 180W charger. Well, you won’t get any of those from the Phantom X2 series.
Even the Pro model is got only 50 megapixels, and the maximum charging speed is capped at 45W on both sides. But the overall specs on the X2 make it a better option than its counterpart. Think of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, 4K video capture at both 30/60fps and the flagship Dimensity 9000 CPU.
The Tecno Phantom X2 and the X2 Pro are currently available via Slot Mobile, Pointekonline, and other online and offline marketplaces. However, the duo is yet to be officially introduced.
