Xiaomi’s latest budget 5G smartphone, the Redmi 12 5G, has just been released in India. It boasts a 6.79-inch FHD+ 90Hz LCD screen with a center punch-hole, and is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC, making it the first phone to do so globally.
The phone is incredibly slim at just 8.17mm, has up to 8GB of RAM with 8GB of virtual RAM, and up to 256GB storage. The Redmi 12 5G has a crystal glass design and comes with IP53 ratings for dust and splash resistance.
This phone runs Android 13 with MIUI 14 and offers 2 years of Android updates and 3 years of security updates. It also has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a 5000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging, and a hybrid dual SIM (nano + nano/microSD) setup.
The Redmi 12 5G’s rear camera boasts a 50MP lens with LED flash, while the front camera is an 8MP lens with f/2.0 aperture. It also has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and infrared sensor, as well as a 3.5mm audio jack and a bottom firing loudspeaker.

The Redmi 12 5G is available in Moonstone Sliver, Pastel Blue, and Jade Black colors, and it comes in three different models with varying RAM and storage capacities.
As for pricing, the base model start at Rs. 11,999 (or $146) for the 4GB + 128GB model, Rs. 13,499 (or $164) for the 6GB + 128GB model, and Rs. 15,499 (or $188) for the top-end 8GB + 256GB model.
All the storage options above will be available starting from August 4th on Amazon.in, mi.com, and other Xiaomi retail stores in India. Additionally, Xiaomi is offering a launch offer of Rs. 1000 instant discount with ICICI Bank cards (4GB and 6GB only), and a Rs. 1000 exchange bonus for Xiaomi users (8GB model only).
