Sharp has launched a new iteration of its user-friendly smartphone designed for older users in Japan, the Sharp Simple Sumaho 7. Building upon the success of the Simple Sumaho 6 released two years ago, this upgrade focuses on an improved camera and an updated software and applications.

Sharp Simple Sumaho 7 Specifications and Features

The Simple Sumaho 7 caters to the needs of seniors with a simplified interface, physical buttons below the screen, and unique software features. One interesting addition is the ability to automatically enhance image clarity and use bolder colors on the display for better visibility.

While not boasting the latest specs, the phone offers a compact and durable design. It adheres to the IP68 standard, making it resistant to water and dust, and is even said to be washable with soap and alcohol wipes. Additionally, it meets MIL-STD-810H compliance for drop resistance, though specific drop heights aren’t mentioned.

Under the hood, the Simple Sumaho 7 packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage expandable via microSD card. The 5.7-inch touchscreen display features a standard 720×1520 resolution and 60Hz refresh rate.

A notable upgrade is the rear camera, which jumps from 12MP in the previous model to a more capable 50MP sensor. The front camera remains at 8MP. A fingerprint scanner is conveniently located on the side, and connectivity options include NFC, 5G support, and a USB-C port.

Software and Others

The phone runs on the latest Android 14 with Sharp’s custom interface likely optimized for ease of use. Specific details about the software haven’t been revealed yet.
