Tecno Camon 17-series now official in Nigeria and Kenya

Tecno Mobile have officially introduced the Camon 17-series in Nigeria and Kenya. Both regions are getting all the variants in the series which includes the vanilla Camon 17, the Camon 17P and the Camon 17 Pro. But unlike the 16-series of last year, the newer iteration did not include a premier model, instead all major camera upgrades over the Camon 16 Premier are pushed unto the Camon 17 Pro model, including Tecno’s newest Taivos imagin lab 2.0.

As far as specs goes, there are differences cutting across the three models of the 17-series. First, the based model has a compact 6.6-inches display with 720 x 1600 pixels res. This unit has a left handed notch that houses a single 16-megapixel main camera.

The 17P and 17 Pro comes in a 6.8-inches screen with 1080 x 2460 pixels and a centralized notch placement, but while the Pro model has a larger 48-megapixel selfie lens, the 17P is given just 16-megapixel selfie snapper. Surprisingly, while the standard model and the Pro model are both listed with 90Hz refresh rating, the 17P model isn’t, but that will be confirmed ASAP.

As for the engines on the inside, the standard model and P model shares MediaTek Helio G85 CPU, while Helio G95 SoC is used only on the Pro model. Additionally only the Pro model is given dual stereo speakers as well.

A 5000mAh battery run across the three devices, but while there is 25W fast charging on the Pro model, the vanilla and P model is given 18W fast charging, plus only the vanilla 17 has a rear fingerprint scanner, the P and Pro model are using a sided biometric scanner, but same Google Android 11 with HiOS 7.6 is available to the three models.

Tecno Camon 17-series price in Nigeria and Kenya

The Camon 17-series are available in multiple color options throughout the three variants. The device starts around Ksh. 22,799 in Kenya for the base model. In Nigeria, the series are priced as follows;

• Standard Camon 17 = N74,000 or $194
• 6GB + 128GB 17P = N97,000 or $254
• 8GB + 256GB 17 Pro = N125,000 or $328
