CWELL, known in select circles as an OEM-ODM manufacturer of smartphones and tablets, has announced the release of a new smartphone, the UNIWA PJ001. The “PJ” in the name hints at its standout feature: a built-in projector.
Recently, smartphones with built-in projectors have gained popularity thanks to Unihertz’s Tank series. However, the UNIWA PJ001 aims to be a simpler and more affordable option.
Projector Specifications:
- Brightness: 70 lumens
- Resolution: 480p
Compared to the Unihertz models, the PJ001’s projector matches the 480p resolution of the Tank 2 Pro and Tank 3 Pro but offers lower brightness. In contrast, the Tank 2 has a higher resolution (720p) but lower brightness.
Smartphone Features:
- Chipset: MediaTek MT8788
- Memory: 8 GB RAM, 256 GB storage, expandable with memory cards
- Display: 6.72-inch screen with a resolution of 1080×2408 (393 ppi)
- Battery: 5050 mAh, which might be insufficient for prolonged projector use due to additional power consumption for the light bulb and cooling fan
- Cameras: 8 MP front camera, 20+8+2 MP rear cameras
- Other Features: NFC module, fingerprint scanner, no standard audio output
- Design: Rugged look, weighs 310 grams
- Operating System: Android 12
The UNIWA PJ001 is designed to be tough but there’s no information on its durability or security features. The price and availability details are yet to be announced, but it should be an exciting addition to the market of projector smartphones, and a cheaper one for guessing sake. Stay tuned for more updates.
