Following the official reveal of the Dimensity 9300+, rumors online point to a potential new MediaTek Dimensity CPU targeted at the upper mid-range segment.
With the OPPO Reno 12 launch expected in the coming weeks, based on increasing leaks, new information has emerged regarding its chipset. While earlier reports suggested a Dimensity 8200 chip for the base model, reliable source Digital Chat Station now indicates a rebrand to the Dimensity 8250.
This “new” chipset was mentioned on a Dimensity 9300+ presentation slide, but is essentially a renamed Dimensity 8200 with the same architecture and operating frequencies: 1x Cortex-A78 (3.1 GHz) + 3x Cortex-A78 (3.0 GHz) + 4x Cortex-A55 (2.0 GHz) and Mali-G610 MC6 GPU.
Further reports suggest similar naming strategies for the higher-tier Reno 12 Pro, with rumors of a “Dimensity 9200+ Star Speed Edition”.
As for the upcoming Reno 12 series, not much is known about the lineup yet. But we do know the series will succeed the current Reno11-series, and will be OPPO’s top midrange offer for the year. The series will come with several iterations, among which will be the vanilla Reno12, and the Reno12 Pro.
