Vivo V23 5G and V23e announced in Nigeria

Vivo Mobile has officially introduced her selfie centric V23 5G and the V23e in Nigeria, while delaying the launch of the same in Kenya until the 21st of February, which is next week. The V23-series are the successors to the company’s V21-series announced back in 2021, and the V23 5G is the first 5G-enabled smartphone from Vivo in Nigeria.

The V21 has a 5G model, but the model announced in Nigeria last year, was the 4G version, even though same CPU are used in the heart of both. As for the V23-series, there are four smartphones in this series so far;

  1. The V23 Pro announced a month ago, and powered by Dimensity 1200 5G CPU
  2. The V23 5G, the model just announced in Nigeria with Dimensity 920 5G CPU (more below)
  3. V23e 5G with Dimensity 810 5G CPU and
  4. The V23e, a 4G network variation, with MediaTek Helio G96 CPU (more below)

Of these four, the model introduced in the Nigerian market, which would probably head to Kenya next week, is the V23 5G and the V23e 4G version.

Both the V23 5G, and the V23e are given similar camera setup on the rear; a 64-megapixel primary lens, 8-megapixel ultrawide and a third 2-megapixel macro shooter with dual LED lights. But while both phones has 50-megapixel selfie camera on the front, the V23 5G has an extra 8-megapixel ultrawide lens.

Both phones has a 6.44-inches AMOLED screen on the front, the V23 5G adds 90Hz refresh rating with HDR10+ and Schott Xensation Up glass protection. It is also worth nothing that the V23 5G is glass both front and back, while the rear of the V23e is polished plastic.

Where major difference between the two lies is on the CPU powering them. The V23 5G is backed by the aforementioned Dimensity 920 5G CPU, while the V23e relies on Helio G96 from MediaTek, same CPU on Tecon’s Camon 18 Premier. Although both models are given 8GB RAM with 128-Gigs of built-in storage.

Another advantage of the V23 5G is the presence of Google Android 12 out of the box, vs Android 11 on the V23e, even though both has Fountouch OS v12 out of the box.

As for their battery compartment, the V23 5G has 4200mAh battery, while the V23e has 4050mAh juice. But both can charge very fast, thanks to the presence of 44W fast charging on both sides.

One final exceling feature on the V23 5G is it color shifting, or color changing technology. This feature enables the phone’s rear to change color from Sunshine Gold to Green when exposed to sunlight or any ultraviolet light source, and it is only available to the Sunshine Gold color option.

The second color option on the V23 5G is Stardust Black, while the V23e is available in Moonlight Shadow and Sunshine Coast. Both models are already up for preorder in Nigeria, with an initial deposit of N5,000. The final price however, rest on N159,900 for the V23e and 239,900 for the V23 5G.
