Lu Weibing, the general manager of Xiaomi has revealed that the Mi Max series smartphone that we have been hearing rumours about won’t be launching any longer. We have been hearing rumours and leaks about the Mix Max series and one of their main hype is the huge 6.9inches display that they have when you tilt it. After waiting so long to see the smartphone, the Xiaomi’s general manager has finally broke the sad news, “the Mi Max series has been discontinued”.
But could they be serious? We remember early last month when the CEO of Xiaomi, Lei Jun, declared that the Mi Note series and the Mi Max series won’t be launching this year any longer and hints that it will be launching next year. What happened? After like a month of his declaration, the Mi Note 10 was launched! So regarding this new report, we still don’t believe that Xiaomi has discontinued the Mi Max series, maybe they are trying to fool us again as they did with the Mi Note 10.
There might be a reason why the Mi Max series has been discontinued though, this Mi Max series smartphone consists of large display phones with big batteries that are pocket-friendly in terms of price. They have a huge 6.9 inch display and to the reason why they might have discontinued it, we all know that phablet-sized phones are not trendy anymore. If you look at the smartphones market now, almost smartphones with above 6.8inch display size are foldable.
Xiaomi Mi Mix AlphaReleasing the Mi Max series smartphone next year might just kind of look outdated, maybe that’s what Xiaomi taught. But if they should release it next year, it might be refurbished to follow up with the trends. In addition, Xiaomi CEO has said that their main focus now is in the Xiaomi and Redmi series. He even went ahead to unveil the smartphones under this line up for this year which are the Mi 9, Mi 9SE, Xiaomi Mix series and the new Xiaomi CC series. He didn’t mention the Mi Max series but since he first said that they will be launching next year, we have nothing to say but to wait and see next year.
