AGM, a company known for its rugged smartphones, has just announced the release of three new smartphones in the G2 series. The three devices which include the vanilla AGM G2, the G2 Pro, and the G2 Guardian Edition come with solid internal components, with the most notable difference being the thermal imaging sensor included in the G2 Guardian Edition.
So to begin with, the AGM G2 model does not have a thermal camera, but it does feature a Breathing Light backlight on the back of the device. The G2 Pro has a thermal camera, but it is not as advanced as the one in the AGM G2 Guardian.
The AGM G2 Guardian boasts a unique thermal camera that is capable of detecting objects up to 500 meters away, even during cloudy, foggy, or dark times. Although the thermal resolution of these cameras is low, at just 0.05 MP.
All three devices are built rugged, with full water, dust, and shock protections, thanks to their IP68, IP69K, and MIL-STD-810H certifications. The smartphones are also designed to withstand drops from up to 1.5 meters and can operate in temperatures ranging from -20°C to 60°C.
The devices are powered by the Qualcomm QCM6490 chipset, which AGM said is more powerful than the Dimensity 1100 and the Snapdragon 778G CPUs. The G2 and G2 pro are available with 8GB RAM and 256 gigs of internal storage. The G2 Guardian on the other hand has both 8/12GB RAM, along with the same 256GB ROM.
The trio is given a 6.58 inches screen, with a resolution of 1080 x 2408 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz. The battery capacity is capped at 7000mAh on all three, and the devices have both 18W and 10W wired and wireless fast charging respectively.
The front camera is 32 megapixels on all three, while the main shooter on the rear is maxed at 108 megapixels, along with a 20-megapixel night camera with infrared illumination, and a 2-megapixel macro shooter. The devices also support 5G networks, have an NFC module, a side fingerprint scanner, Type-C, dual-band GPS, and a super loud speaker rated at 109db.
Coming to the pricing, the AGM G2 model will retail for $699, the G2 Pro will go for $799, while the AGM G2 Guardian is peaked at $899 or $999 for the 8+256 and 12+256 GB versions, respectively.
