Honor X8a with Helio G88 CPU arrives in a super thin bezels

Honor, a leading smartphone brand, has revealed its latest offering – the Honor X8a. This device is more like a cheaper variant of the Honor X9a that was released few days back. It boasts thin bezels around the screen, giving it a sleek and modern look.

Under the hood, the Honor X8a is powered by the MediaTek Helio G88 chipset, which promises to deliver between 200,000 to 250,000 points on AnTuTu benchmark. This places the device in the lower mid-range category in terms of performance.

The Honor X8a comes with 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. The device features a 6.7-inch LTPS screen with a resolution of 1080×2388 and a screen refresh rate of 90Hz. The screen offers a large display area with an impressive 89% screen-to-body ratio, thanks to the thin bezels.

The Honor X8a is equipped with a 4500mAh battery, which supports 22.5W fast charging. This should provide users with enough battery life for a full day of usage. It is also worth noting that the battery supports 22.5W fast charger, which offers improved charging speed.

In terms of cameras, the device features a 16 MP front camera and a triple-rear camera setup consisting of a 100 MP main camera, 5 MP wide-angle camera, and 2 MP macro camera.

Other features of the device include an NFC module (available in select countries), a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and support for Type-C and 5GHz Wi-Fi. However, the device does not feature a standard audio output.

The Honor X8a has been announced globally, which means it will be available in many countries. The price for the 8GB RAM + 128 GB storage version as listed as on the company’s Malaysia website is 999 ringgits, an equivalent of $233.

It is available in three color options that include Cyan Lake, Titanium Silver, and Midnight Black. The phone is powered by Google Android 12 MagicUI 6.1 out of the box. It supports dual 4G Nano-SIMs, but a slot for an SD card is absent.
