HTC has unveiled its latest smartphone, the HTC U24 Pro, continuing its annual tradition of releasing new devices in late spring or early summer. Despite the company’s reduced market presence and partial business sale to Google, HTC remains committed to producing intriguing mid-range smartphones each year.
The HTC U24 Pro stands out with its unique design, featuring a distinctively shaped metal frame and a mysterious cover material that resembles glass in appearance and durability but is not actually glass, according to HTC.
The camera system is a highlight of the HTC U24 Pro. It boasts a 50-megapixel main sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera, and a 50-megapixel telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom.
The front-facing camera also features a 50-megapixel sensor. The device includes AI functionalities such as face replacement in group photos, adding 3D characters to videos, and reducing noise in nighttime images. It also integrates with HTC Viverse VR services.
The HTC U24 Pro is equipped with a 6.8-inch curved OLED screen with a resolution of 2436×1080 pixels, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset. It includes a 3.5 mm headphone jack, 12 GB of RAM, and options for 256 GB or 512 GB of internal storage, expandable via a microSD card. The battery capacity is 4600 mAh, supporting 60W wired charging, 15W wireless charging, and 5W reverse wireless charging. The device is available in twilight orange and space blue colors, and it is water-resistant with an IP67 rating too.
In Taiwan, the HTC U24 Pro is priced from 18,990 New Taiwan dollars (approximately $587), with sales starting on June 30. Pre-order customers will receive a gift of HTC branded TWS earbuds. Further pricing and availability details for other regions are yet to be announced.
