Insta360 has introduced its newest 360° action camera, the X4 Air, and it shows that powerful performance does not always require a heavy setup. The device delivers 8K recording in a compact form that weighs less than most smartphones, making it easier for creators to capture fully immersive footage anytime, anywhere.
The X4 Air was unveiled on October 28 and measures 46 x 113.8 x 37 mm while weighing just 165 grams. This makes it 38 grams lighter than the original X4. It comes in Graphite Black or Arctic White and is designed to be both portable and durable, fitting comfortably in small bags or even a jacket pocket for quick access.
Inside the device are two 1/1.8-inch CMOS sensors at 29MP paired with f/1.95 lenses. The camera supports 8K recording at 30fps or 6K at 24fps, bringing high-resolution capture to a smaller and lighter device than before.
Popular features from previous Insta360 cameras are still here, including Active HDR, InstaFrame, timelapse, loop recording, and Road Mode. You also get FlowState stabilization and 360° Horizon Lock to ensure smooth video during action-filled moments. With the Insta360 app, users can quickly edit and reframe shots using built-in AI functions for fast social-ready output.
A 2,010 mAh removable battery powers the camera, offering up to about 88 minutes of 8K footage or 100 minutes at 6K. Charging takes under an hour, reaching 80 percent in roughly 36 minutes and a full charge in about 57 minutes.
The base package is priced at 399.99 dollars or euros and includes the essentials such as the battery. For a little more, the Starter Bundle adds an invisible selfie stick, spare battery, and lens cap for 439.99 dollars or 429.99 euros. Both options are already available through Insta360’s website and Amazon.
Rather than reinvent the category, the X4 Air refines it. Its lightweight build, simplified usability, and sharp 8K recording make it a strong choice for everyday creators who want cinematic 360° content without carrying a full load of gear.
