New leaks have surfaced regarding the Samsung Galaxy Watch FE, providing a glimpse into its specifications and features ahead of its anticipated launch. According to information provided by Sudhanshu Ambhore, the Galaxy Watch FE will be a repurposed version of older Galaxy Watch hardware, similar to previous FE (Fan Edition) products from Samsung.

Hardware and Specifications

The Galaxy Watch FE will reportedly utilize the Exynos W920 chipset. This 5 nm chipset, which is approaching its third anniversary, was previously used in earlier Galaxy Watch models. Despite its age, the Exynos W920 remains a capable processor for smartwatches, providing sufficient power for everyday tasks and health monitoring functions.

In terms of memory and storage, the Galaxy Watch FE is expected to feature 1.5 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. This configuration is identical to what was found in the Galaxy Watch4, suggesting that the Watch FE will have similar performance and capabilities.

The smartwatch will be powered by a 247 mAh battery, which is officially rated to provide up to 30 hours of usage on a single charge. While this may not be the longest battery life in the market, it is adequate for a full day of regular use, including sleep tracking and workout monitoring.

Design and Build

The Galaxy Watch FE will be designed to withstand everyday wear and tear, with water resistance up to 5 ATM and an IP68 certification. This means the watch can be submerged in water up to 50 meters deep for up to 10 minutes, making it suitable for swimming and other water-based activities.

Health and Fitness Features

Samsung has equipped the Galaxy Watch FE with a range of health monitoring sensors. The smartwatch will be capable of measuring heart rate and SpO2 levels, providing users with vital information about their cardiovascular and respiratory health. Additionally, the Galaxy Watch FE will feature an electrocardiogram (ECG) function, allowing users to monitor their heart’s electrical activity and detect irregularities.

Another notable feature is the inclusion of Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA), which enables the watch to measure body composition. This technology can provide insights into the user’s body fat percentage, muscle mass, and other important metrics, aiding in the management of fitness goals and overall health.

Comparison to Galaxy Watch4

In essence, the Galaxy Watch FE is a rebadged version of the Galaxy Watch4, which is currently available for around $139.99 on Amazon. This approach aligns with previous expectations set by Roland Quandt earlier this year, who claimed that Samsung was developing a refreshed version of the Galaxy Watch4 for 2024.

The Galaxy Watch FE is expected to be officially unveiled in early July at Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked event. This event is also anticipated to feature the launch of the Galaxy Watch7 series and the Galaxy Watch Ultra, showcasing Samsung’s continued efforts to innovate in the wearable technology space.
