Sony today introduced Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact smartphone that will launch with Android 8.0 (Oreo) out of the box. It also confirmed the list of smartphone that will get the Android Oreo update.

Android Oreo comes with lots of new features and improvements including:

  • Background limits,
  • Notification channels,
  • Snooze notifications,
  • Autofill APIs,
  • Picture in Picture (PIP) display,
  • Adaptive icons,
  • Wide-gamut color for apps,
  • Support for high-quality Bluetooth audio codecs such as LDAC codec,
  • Companion device pairing,
  • Keyboard navigation,
  • AAudio API for Pro Audio,
  • WebView enhancements,
  • Java 8 Language APIs
  • Run-time optimizations and much more.

It has not revealed when it will start rolling out Android Oreo update for these phones and the company said that it is working to bring the update to as many of its devices as possible, so we can expect to add more devices to this list.
