Mediatek have introduced a slew of 5G mobile processor in 2020, including the cost-effective Dimensity 720 processor which has been used in a handful of affordable 5G mobile phones including Realme V3, which is sold under $150, currently one of the Cheapest 5G smartphone. But 5G phones is about to get even cheaper, thanks to the newly introduced Mediatek Dimensity 700.
Like the 720, the Dimensity 700 from Mediatek is a 7nm 8-cores CPU with two “big” ARM Cortex-A76s clocked at 2.2GHz, and Six “LITTLE” A55 cores at 2.0GHz each, along with Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, clocked at 950MHz.
According to Mediatek, this new Chip is a complete package, offering supports for 5G-CA 2CC, a carrier aggregation rated for a throughput layer coverage of over 30% more compared to other solutions. The SoC is said to also handle a “faster average speeds” and smooth handovers between different 5G connections, than the Dimensity 720.
With the new Chip, you are also getting MediaTek 5G UltraSave technology, which is rated to save battery while using this latest radio standard.
As for the technical specifications, phones with Dimensity 700 can have upto FHD+ screen with 90Hz refresh rate, and can utilize multiple rear cameras, pioneered by upto a 64MP main sensor with other AI features such as bokeh mode and advanced low-light shots in place.
Interestingly, the CPU can also support a phone with upto 12GB LP-DDR4X RAM, and have dual SIM slots, both of which support 5G, voice over 5G and dual standby. Among the feature package also includes multiple voice assistants, Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1.
Well, I’m not sure of how soon this will be possible, but with this new Dimensity 700 CPU from Mediatek, we could be getting full fledged 5G smartphones under $100 very soon.
Oh yeah, this Mediatek chipset will make the smartphones cheaper, but has really powerful specifications.

Nice chip. but the new Dimensity 920 is quite faster than the previous versions. I really like how mediatek is innovating
