Motorola has officially unveiled the Signature, and it arrives with bigger main and telephoto camera sensors than the Edge 50 Ultra, along with refined image processing. Naturally, this raises the question of how it stacks up against today’s top flagships from Apple and Vivo. DxOMark recently carried out a detailed camera comparison to find out.
The publication shared side by side camera samples from the Motorola Signature, the iPhone 17 Pro, and the Vivo X300 Pro, captured under different lighting conditions.

In a challenging low light scene with complex colors, the Motorola device performed better than expected. It managed to keep both the subject and background more balanced than its rivals. The Signature preserved fine wall textures more clearly than the Vivo and the iPhone while also keeping skin tones looking natural.

For portrait photography, the X300 Pro strikes a balance between realistic and slightly enhanced visuals, delivering pleasing lighting and color on the face. The Motorola Signature produces a similarly bright image with accurate edge separation, though its color tone appears a bit warmer compared to the iPhone’s more neutral result.
The Signature uses a 50MP periscope camera with a 1/1.95 inch sensor, positioned between the Vivo X300 Pro’s larger 1/1.4 inch 200MP unit and the iPhone 17 Pro’s smaller 1/2.55 inch 48MP sensor. However, in modern smartphone photography, software and AI play a major role. This brings up the question of how well Motorola’s tuning competes with Vivo’s approach.

Although the source did not reveal the exact zoom levels used, the Motorola sample looks noticeably sharper than the iPhone’s and slightly less detailed than the Vivo’s.
DxOMark also pointed out improved noise handling in darker areas when compared to the iPhone, showing how much Motorola has advanced its image processing in recent years.
DxOMark’s camera ranking
At present, the Motorola Signature sits in seventh place on DxOMark’s smartphone camera leaderboard. It ranks above devices such as the Pixel 10 Pro XL, Huawei Pura 70 Ultra, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

The phone is expected to go on sale in certain European markets next month, starting at around £899.99 or €999, with broader availability planned in the months that follow.
