OPPO Mobile Nigeria is set to bring the Reno 3-series to the Nigerian smartphone market effective from the 15th of May. The company made this known today via their official twitter handle and a viral Ad with Toke Makinwa stating that the Reno3 will be launching in Nigeria on Friday of this week.

There are about six (6) variations of the Reno3 smartphone all together, but unfortunately, it is not clear which of these variants we should expect as the ad image (image in 4th paragraph) is saying one thing, while the tweet below is saying another. Funny enough, even the tweet and the attached video are saying different things, so we’ll just look out for the vanilla Reno 3 and the Reno 3 Pro as well.

As for the OPPO Reno 3 and the Reno 3 Pro, both smartphones were announced earlier in March this year with a 6.5-inch full-HD+ screen having 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution and an AMOLED panel on both sides. The difference between the two lies mainly in the choice of CPUs, the main and front selfie camera options.

  • While the vanilla Reno3 has the Helio P90, the Reno 3 Pro has Helio P95, both of which are capable 12nm CPUs with PowerVR GM9446 GPU.
  • As for the camera department, both phones spot a quad-rear camera modules, but the main sensor on the Reno3 Pro is a larger 64-megapixel snapper, while the standard version is got just 48-megapixel shooter.
  • Then the selfie snapper. On the Pro, there is a dual sensors in the notable pill-notch upfront having a 44-megapixel main shooter and a 2-megapixel secondary snapper, while the non-pro version has a single 44 MP sensor.

Both smartphone has in-screen fingerprint scanner, provide support for dual SIM and run on the latest Android 10 out of the box. Battery power comes from a built-in 4025mAh battery with 30W fast charging support via USB Type-C on both phones.

When this phone launches, it will compete against the likes of Tecno Camon 15 Premier, the Redmi Note 9s and the yet to arrive Infinix Note 7, and that is if OPPO Mobile is able to price the device competitively well. As for the pricing of the Reno 3 in Nigeria, well find out by Friday.
