The Xiaomi subsidiary brand Poco has recently launched two new smartphones – Poco X5 and Poco X5 Pro. This article will focus on the younger model, the Poco X5. To catch up with the news on the X5 Pro, CLICK HERE.

The Poco X5 shares similarities with the Redmi Note 12 5G, sold in India. Both smartphones have the same casing and color options, however, the Redmi Note 12 5G has a slightly lower memory capacity and lacks the NFC module.

The Poco X5 is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 chipset, while the Redmi Note 12 5G has the more recent Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset. Despite their difference, both chipsets have similar performance and features. AnTuTu benchmarking results show a score of around 400,000 points, which is a standard for mid-range smartphones.

The Poco X5 has 6 or 8 GB of RAM and a permanent storage capacity of 128 or 256 GB, with support for memory cards. It features a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400, a high refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, and a 5000 mAh battery with fast charging capabilities of up to 33 watts.

The front camera has a resolution of 13 MP and the rear camera has a simple set of 48 + 8 + 2 MP (main, wide-angle, macro). The main camera sensor is the OmniVision OV48B.

Other features include a Type-C connection, 5th generation Wi-Fi, a side fingerprint scanner, an IR blaster, and an NFC module. The Poco X5 has been launched globally and supports all necessary LTE bands.

The Poco X5 can be purchased in the Poco branded store on AliExpress, with prices starting at $199 for the 6+128 GB version and $229 for the 8+256 GB version.
