Xiaomi have just announced the Redmi K30 Ultra, a cheaper version of the Redmi K30 Pro, or say the Poco X2 Pro. Now, there are some tiny and negligible differences between the older K30 Pro and the all new K30 Ultra. But the main difference between the two phones is the CPU that run on the Inside.
For the older K30 Pro, the premium Snapdragon 865 mobile processor is the king in there, and the device is sold starting from $399. But pandemic lock-down is still on, and it is not everybody that will be willing to dish out that much on a phone, and that is where the Redmi K30 Ultra come in.
The K30 Ultra drives it power from an octa-core Mediatek Dimensity 1000+ CPU. This Chipset is based on ARM Cortex A77 architecture pegged with Mali-G77 GPU. It is a 5G processor, which means like the K30 Pro, the Ultra support 5G SA/NSA band as well.
Another notable area of differences between the two smartphone is in the battery wing. The older K30 Pro benefits from extra 200mAh juice over the 4500mAh battery used in the K30 Ultra, but there is a catch: only 30W fast charging is available on the K30 Pro, while the K30 Ultra enjoys additional 3W fast charging.
Then display, and even though both Redmi K30 Pro and K30 ultra have same 6.67-inches FHD+ screen, the former use Super AMOLED screen with 60Hz refresh, while the later (K30 Ultra of course), although uses AMOLED screen, but with a high 120Hz refresh rate. It even come with dual stereo speakers, which is absent in the K30 Pro.
Aside the three difference above, other specifications remains fairly similar. The table below tells more.

Redmi K30 Pro vs K30 Ultra comparison summary
Before deciding on which of these devices to buy, it is important to note that the Redmi K30 Ultra might not be crossing the border of China anytime soon.
Currently, Xiaomi does not have a clear plan for the global launch of Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra smartphones, Redmi K30 Ultra smartphones….
..says Daniel D, Senior Product Marketing Manager and Global Representative of Xiaomi.
What this mean is, International buyers currently eyeing the K30 Ultra will either have to buy via online Chinese smartphone dealers, or may have to wait until Xiaomi decide to bring the K30 Ultra to the international space.
The K30 Pro on the other hand is already available internationally, and even known as the Poco F2 Pro in some regions like India.
Getting the factor above out of the way, the Redmi K30 Ultra is truly a worthy deal for folks on budget, and the added stereo speakers and 120Hz refresh rate is an icing on the cake.
But if a $120 dollar difference is not a big deal to you, the Redmi K30 Pro is surely worthy of every penny spent on it. You can pick it up in many regions currently, without having to wait for order delivery from China. Beside the K30 Pro is one among the few Snapdragon 865 running device priced under $400 USD.
