This morning, Lu Weibing, Redmi brand general manager and Xiaomi Group partner, revealed certain specifics about the Redmi K40 gaming version. According to him, there will be a more expensive screen solution for the Redmi K40 gaming version at all costs.
Lu Weibing also revealed that this smartphone which is the first Xiaomi smartphone to be dedicated to gamers will come with an OLED flexible screen straight screen. Its display will use an ultra-thin chin and three narrow bezels.
Interestingly, this device has an AMOLED flexible straight display that will support a 1.07 billion color display. It will also support 8192 brightness adjustment, HDR10+, P3 color gamut, and a 120Hz high refresh rate. This single punch-hole display has a high 144Hz refresh rate. The smartphone will have a huge built-in 5000 mAh super-capacity battery that supports 67W ultra-fast flash charging.
Redmi K40 Gaming Version expected to have an OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate.We are speculating that the Redmi K40 gaming version will use the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chip. However, this chip will be optimized, and its output will be higher than the regular version. This processor is MediaTek’s top-of-the-line chipset for the first half of 2021.
The Redmi K40 gaming version packs a Cortex-A78 core clocked at 3.0GHz plus three Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.6GHz plus four Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0GHz.
The chipset is based on 6nm architecture. This chipset will also have an ARM Mali-G77 MC9 GPU which should provide excellent gaming performance. MediaTek also equips this chip with its HyperThread 3.0 technology for optimal performance on games.
Redmi K40 Gaming Version expected to have an OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. The new panel of this device is 10-bit, which means that it will have 1.067 billion colors in theory. It will not be like the 8-bit screens with 16 million colors previously used by the phone producers. This translates to the fact that the device will have better color reproduction and smoother transition.
The brightness will have 8192 levels which will be able to adapt to every light condition. Other specs include DCI-P3 color gamut, HDR10+ support, and possibly a 6.43” panel.
Redmi’s general manager Lu Weibing stated that “This time we will still implement Redmi efficiency under the brand mission of the ultimate cost-effectiveness. We will use a more kind price to provide a professional gaming experience to the public. Our hope is to break through the bottom line of the price of gaming mobile phones…”.
We, however, expect to gain more information on the price and availability of this device before its official launch date on the 27th of April.
