In a bold move to support young talent, Xiaomi has launched its first-ever “Youth Apartment” initiative, offering affordable smart housing to recent graduates. With rents starting at just ¥1,999 (around $280) per month, the program aims to ease the transition for new hires relocating to key Xiaomi campuses in Beijing and Nanjing.
Beijing Youth Apartments: Affordable, Smart, and Ready-to-Move
Located on Dingsi Road, Changping District, the Beijing complex features seven residential buildings totaling 2,658 fully furnished studio apartments, each measuring 29 square meters. These smart studios come with a private bathroom and integrated Xiaomi smart home devices, offering a seamless connected living experience.

Residents will enjoy:
- Shared kitchens and dining spaces
- A gym and media room
- Landscaped green zones with trees and lawns
- 24/7 concierge service
- Mobile app access for maintenance requests, moving services, and package handling
To support commuting, Xiaomi is providing shuttle buses to its nearby tech hubs—10 km to the main tech park and just 3 km to the Xiaomi Smart Industrial Park.
Who Can Apply & When
The Youth Apartments in Beijing are primarily reserved for fresh graduates:
- 2025 graduates: Applications opened on June 29
- 2024 graduates: Applications open July 13
- 2023 graduates: Applications open July 20
- 2022 graduates and eligible recruits from recent years will be considered based on availability
Nanjing Youth Apartments: Premium Location, Broader Access
In Nanjing, Xiaomi has introduced a second housing project located in the Hexi South CBD, just 100 meters from the Xiaomi Nanjing Tech Park. This site features 566 units across two layouts:
- 55m² studio apartments
- Two-bedroom apartments
Unlike the Beijing complex, the Nanjing apartments are open to all Xiaomi employees. Applications are open from July 1 to July 30 and will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Leadership Statements and Future Plans
Xiaomi Group President Lu Weibing revealed that the company finalized the rent after multiple internal reviews to keep it affordable for young employees.
Founder and CEO Lei Jun emphasized that the initiative is part of Xiaomi’s broader effort to enhance the quality of life for young engineers, while VP Zhang Jianhui confirmed that a residential zone is in the works for staff at the Xiaomi Automobile Factory.
The housing program also aligns with Xiaomi’s ambitious recruitment drive to hire over 5,000 graduates across China in 2025.
More from Xiaomi: Smart Home Expansions

In addition to its housing initiative, Xiaomi continues to innovate on the smart home front:
- The Mijia Kettle 3 was recently launched with 1.7L capacity, 1800W rapid heating, and four-level temperature control.
- A new 400L slim refrigerator has also been released, featuring HyperOS smart integration and low-noise design for modern kitchens.
With the Youth Apartment initiative, Xiaomi is setting a new standard in corporate support for fresh graduates—combining affordability, convenience, and smart living. As the company scales its tech workforce, initiatives like this may become a blueprint for how tech giants can invest in their future talent.
