Even though many ‘more premium’ smartphones are still struggling on the older Android 9.0, (I’m looking at you, Tecno Phantom 9), the little low-end Nokia 2.2 mobile has just been upgraded to the Android 10.0. HMD Global started rolling out Android 10 update to affordable Nokia 2.2 earlier today with a host of interesting features.

Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer, HMD Global revealed this news on his official Twitter handle. The tweet reads, “Nokia 2.2 users, now is your chance to update to Android 10! All performance-enhancing features are now available! Stay tuned for the same update for our other Nokia phones.”

The update brings February security patch along with system-wide dark mode and other Android 10-based navigation controls. The update also adds Smart Reply, additional controls over privacy and location data. Users can go to Settings > Software Update in order to download the latest Android 10 build.

The Nokia 2.2 has long been succeeded by the Nokia 2.3 since December 2019. It was introduced in June, 2019 with a 5.71-inch HD+ display and a screen resolution of 1520 x 720 pixels. The phone came with a 2GHz quad-core MediaTek Helio A22 processor along with 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of internal storage. It has a single 13 MP main camera and a 5 MP selfie sensor.

The 2.3 had came with same CPU, but benefited from a larger 6.2-inch display and dual rear cameras. It also has a 4000mAh battery, which is about 1000mAh larger than the 2.2, but both device run on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. So since the Nokia 2.2 has gotten Android 10, the more latest 2.3 should follow suit soon.
