A well known tipster, Digital Chat Station (DCS), has revealed an interesting update suggesting that the Oppo Find X10 Ultra may remain the only high end Android flagship in 2027 to feature a dual periscope camera system combined with a 10x super telephoto lens.
DCS claims that among upcoming premium Android phones next year, the Find X10 Ultra is currently positioned as the only model expected to offer this specific camera setup. The leak also indicates that this configuration will be improved compared to the previous generation, although exact details have not yet been disclosed.
This information also aligns with earlier expectations surrounding the device. The Find X10 Ultra is rumored to feature a 6.89 inch 2K LTPO OLED display, a battery capacity exceeding 7000mAh, and a new 200MP Samsung HPA LOFIC main camera sensor. The Ultra variant is expected to arrive in the first half of 2027, after the rest of the X10 series is launched.
Vivo steps away from 10x telephoto plans for the X500 Ultra
The more notable part of DCS’s report suggests that a competing brand has quietly abandoned its plan to include a 10x telephoto camera in its upcoming flagship. According to the tipster, the company had been testing a 10x zoom solution, but the prototype has now been cancelled.
Instead, the brand is now said to continue with its established setup, which includes a 200MP periscope camera supported by in sensor zoom technology.
All indications point toward the Vivo X500 Ultra being the device in question. Recent leaks had suggested that Vivo was experimenting with a 10x telephoto system for the X500 Ultra, which would have marked a significant upgrade over the X300 Ultra’s single 200MP periscope offering around 3.7x optical zoom. However, those plans now appear to have been dropped before reaching production.
With Vivo stepping back from the 10x zoom approach, Oppo seems set to further commit to its dual periscope camera strategy.
