Xiaomi Unveils Redmi Turbo 3: A Mid-Range Powerhouse with a New Chip and AI Flair

The rumored Redmi Turbo 3 from Xiaomi is now official. We has previously reported that the popular Redmi Note Turbo lineup will be coming under a new moniker. So instead of the Redmi Note 13 Turbo succeeding the Note 12 Turbo, Xiaomi decided to give us a Redmi Turbo 3 instead. In this article will be looking at all you should know about the phone.

All About the Redmi Turbo 3

The First to Get Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 Chipset

The Redmi Turbo 3 is the first phone to be equipped with the all-new Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset. This processor is specifically designed for the upper level mid-range segment. The naming does not equate with the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, but being in the 8 Gen-series should tell you what to expect already.

A Refreshing and Innovative Design

The Redmi Turbo 3 boasts a revamped design, featuring a unique ring flash surrounding the dual main camera system. OPPO Reno series and the Redmi K-series have utilized similar design language in the past.

As for the camera, the main sensor is the same 50-megapixel Sony LYT-600 image sensor used on the recently announced OnePlus Nord CE4 smartphone. It is accompanied by an 8-megapixel sensor for capturing ultrawide photos.

But the camera system isn’t the only innovative feature. The 20-megapixel front-facing camera allows for AI gesture control, swiping across the screen for selfie, auto lock/unlock, and so on.

Top Midrange A-class Display

The Redmi Turbo 3 features a large 6.67-inch display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. The display is given a 1.5K resolution and is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus for added scratch resistance.

Built to Withstand the Elements

The Redmi Turbo 3 is built for everyday life. With an IP64 rating, it can withstand dust and splashes, providing peace of mind in various environments. The phone also features a good heat dissipation system to keep things cool even during demanding tasks like navigation or gaming.

Battery and Operating System

The Redmi Turbo 3 comes equipped with a 5000mAh battery that supports 90W fast charging. The phone runs on the latest Android 14 operating system with Xiaomi’s own HyperOS on top.

Multiple Options and Competitive Pricing

The Redmi Turbo 3 comes in three color options – black, gold, and green – and offers a variety of storage configurations, with the highest option reaching a massive 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.

The pricing starts at a competitive 1999 yuan (around $276 USD) for the base model. The top-tier configuration reaches a still-affordable 2799 yuan (around $386 USD).

Global Availability Unknown

Currently, the Redmi Turbo 3 is only available for purchase in China. While there’s no official announcement regarding a global release, Xiaomi might introduce it under a different name within another series in other markets.
