Apple has introduced the iPhone Air, a sleek new model in its smartphone family that combines ultra-thin design with powerful performance. Measuring only 5.64mm in thickness and weighing 165g, it stands as the slimmest iPhone the company has ever released.
Apple iPhone Air Specifications
The iPhone Air is equipped with a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR OLED screen, offering a resolution of 2736×1260 pixels and 460ppi density. It supports ProMotion with a variable refresh rate between 1Hz and 120Hz, HDR, True Tone, and an outdoor peak brightness of 3000 nits. Both sides are protected by Ceramic Shield 2, improving resistance to scratches and reducing glare.
Under the hood, the device runs on Apple’s new A19 Pro processor, built on a 3nm process. It comes with a 6-core CPU, a 5-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine, delivering strong performance while keeping energy use in check. Connectivity is powered by the N1 chip for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread, while the C1X modem delivers faster speeds and 30 percent better efficiency compared to the modem in the iPhone 16 Pro.
The iPhone Air operates on iOS 26, which debuts the Liquid Glass interface and new Apple Intelligence tools. These include features such as Clean Up for photos, Live Translation, Visual Intelligence for contextual actions, and Genmoji creation from the keyboard. Other highlights are Call Screening, Hold Assist, and the newly introduced Apple Games app.
On the back, the phone houses a 48MP Fusion Main camera that supports 28mm and 35mm focal lengths, paired with a 2x telephoto option. The camera uses a quad-pixel sensor with sensor-shift stabilization and Apple’s enhanced Photonic Engine. The front-facing 18MP camera brings Center Stage support, and together the system can record in 4K60 HDR Dolby Vision. Dual Capture, Focus Control, and other AI-based improvements enhance the photography experience.
Battery life has been optimized through a redesigned internal layout, offering up to 27 hours of video playback. Fast charging brings the battery to 50 percent in about 30 minutes with a 20W adapter or higher. The iPhone Air also supports MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging standards.
Other features include IP68-rated water and dust resistance, stereo sound, Face ID, an Action button, and a new Camera Control button. Its titanium frame, made with 80 percent recycled material, adds durability while keeping the body lightweight.
Pricing and Availability
The iPhone Air comes in four finishes: Space Black, Cloud White, Light Gold, and Sky Blue. Prices begin at 999 dollars for the 256GB model, 1,199 dollars for the 512GB version, and 1,399 dollars for the 1TB variant.
Pre-orders will open on September 12, with general availability starting September 19 across 63 countries. From September 26, the rollout will extend to additional regions.
Alongside the iPhone Air, Apple also revealed the Watch Ultra 3 and Watch SE 3 with satellite messaging and improved health features, as well as the AirPods Pro 3, which now offer better noise cancellation, heart rate monitoring, and real-time translation.
