A new report from China hints that Redmi may soon launch a smartphone with one of the largest batteries ever seen on a mainstream device.
According to reliable tipster Digital Chat Station, a major smartphone brand has completed development of a 9,000mAh single-cell silicon battery supporting 100W fast charging. Even more ambitious, the company is reportedly testing a 10,000mAh version internally — something that could redefine endurance on modern smartphones.
Could it debut on the Redmi Turbo 5?
While the tipster didn’t name the brand behind the project, Chinese outlet MyDrivers believes the new battery could make its debut on the upcoming Redmi Turbo 5 series, expected to launch between December and January.
However, there’s still some confusion around the exact capacity. Another leak from earlier this week — also citing DCS — claimed the Redmi Turbo 5 would feature a 7,500mAh battery instead.
That said, older reports pointed to a 9,000mAh+ unit, suggesting that either the higher-capacity battery will appear on a different Turbo 5 variant, or perhaps on a completely separate Redmi lineup.
Performance and chipset details
Under the hood, the Redmi Turbo 5 is rumored to debut with MediaTek’s Dimensity 8500 chipset. Built on TSMC’s 4nm process, the chip reportedly features an octa-core Arm Cortex-A725 CPU running at up to 3.4GHz, paired with a Mali-G720 GPU clocked around 1.5GHz.
For power users, the Turbo 5 Pro is expected to go even further, possibly featuring the Dimensity 9500e or Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. The Dimensity 9500e, in particular, is tipped to include a Cortex-X925 prime core, an Immortalis-G925 GPU, and hardware-level AI acceleration, promising flagship-grade performance.
Conclusion
If these leaks prove accurate, Redmi could soon deliver a phone that combines massive battery endurance with flagship-class speed — a rare balance in today’s market. Whether it’s the Redmi Turbo 5, the Turbo 5 Pro, or an entirely new series, this might be the next big leap in smartphone battery innovation.
